1. Tether Dominance (USDTDOM) — Short, Closed

Entry: 7.5300 · Exit: 6.9800 · 20x · +146.1%

The Setup:

The limit short rested at 7.53, this week’s open, and filled at 12:01 UTC on Thursday 20 August. 7.53 has been fought over since spring, USDTDOM trading both sides of it three times each way between March and May 2026, and the market was sitting right on top of it the moment the week started.

Trade Management:

Stop-loss set at 7.63, a level USDTDOM has also seen both sides of this year: it held there on 10 March and was rejected from there on 29 April. Above it the short has nothing left to argue for it: USDTDOM would have taken back everything the position was sold into. 1.328% above entry, risking 26.56% of collateral at 20x. At its worst the position ran 0.882% offside, about two thirds of the distance to the stop. Liquidation sits at 7.8990.

The Exit:

Take-profit rested at 6.98 and filled at 08:57 UTC on Friday 21 August. USDTDOM held there twice in May 2026, buyers stepping in at 6.9801 on 6 May and again at 6.9835 on 10 May. 5.5R off the stop.

What It Paid:

1.328% of room is what 20x needed on this one. Move +7.30%. Net +146.1%. A stop-out would have cost 26.56% of collateral. 5.5R. Held 20h 56m.

Takeaway:

7.53 cut both ways all spring and didn’t need a clean breakout to earn the trade; sitting right on top of it at the week’s open was reason enough to rest the short there.

2. Solana Dominance (SOLDOM) — Long, Closed

Entry: 2.1047 · Exit: 2.1500 · 115x · +247.4%

The Setup:

Nothing was bought here in advance. 2.10 rejected SOLDOM three times, on 8 February, 15 February and 11 May, so a long only made sense once the market closed above it rather than being bought beneath it again. The hourly candle closed above 2.10 at 23:00 UTC on Saturday 22 August, and the long was market opened after that close, at 2.1047.

Trade Management:

Stop-loss set at 2.10, which rejected SOLDOM three times before finally giving way. Back below it the breakout has failed and there is nothing left to be long against. Distance 0.2241% below entry, 22 basis points, costing 25.77% of collateral at 115x. The position printed 2.1015 at its worst, 0.151% offside and a little over two thirds of the way to it. Liquidation sits at 2.0885.

The Exit:

Take-profit rested at 2.15: it rejected SOLDOM three times in February and March and had not traded since 8 July. It filled 1h 39m later, at 00:39 UTC on Sunday 23 August. 9.6R off the stop.

What It Paid:

A 22-basis-point stop is what makes 115x possible here, and that is the whole trade. Move +2.15%. Net +247.4%. A stop-out would have cost 25.77% of collateral. 9.6R. Held 1h 39m.

Takeaway:

A stop that tight only works when the level behind it has already rejected the market three times and finally gave way; the size follows the structure, not the other way around.

3. Bitcoin Dominance (BTCDOM) — Short, Closed

Entry: 59.8988 · Exit: 59.1100 · 155x · +204.1%

The Setup:

BTCDOM ran 0.472% through the prior week’s high at 59.6172 and found nothing there. The short was market opened on the hourly close back under 59.96, at 18:00 UTC on Friday 21 August, at 59.8988. A sweep that reaches for a level and comes back empty-handed is the trade itself, not a reason to wait it out.

Trade Management:

Stop-loss set at 60.00, a round number with real weight behind it: the level rejected BTCDOM five times between November 2025 and March 2026, most recently on 5 March, and last traded at the end of May. Above it the failed sweep stops being a failure at all. Distance 0.169% above entry, costing 26.20% of collateral at 155x. 0.108% offside was as far as this one went, just under two thirds of the gap to the stop. Liquidation sits at 60.2553.

The Exit:

Take-profit rested at 59.11, the best-worked level on the card. BTCDOM has traded both sides of it four times between January 2025 and June 2026, and it was in play again as recently as 20 August. It filled at 04:07 UTC on Saturday 22 August. 7.79R off the stop.

What It Paid:

155x rode on a stop just 0.169% away. Move +1.32%. Net +204.1%. A stop-out would have cost 26.20% of collateral. 7.79R. Held 10h 7m.

Takeaway:

A sweep with no follow-through does the level’s job twice: once to draw the market in, once to send it back out.

4. BNB Dominance (BNBDOM) — Short, Closed

Entry: 3.5676 · Exit: 3.5100 · 40x · +64.5%

The Setup:

The slowest of the five, and the one that had to be sat through. BNBDOM lost 3.57 on the hourly close at 02:00 UTC on Sunday 23 August, and the short was market opened after it, at 3.5676. 3.57 held BNBDOM six times since September 2025, most recently on 7 August, so this short is a breakdown through a price that had repeatedly defended itself, not another rejection from above.

Trade Management:

Stop-loss set at 3.59, which held BNBDOM four times between September 2025 and June 2026. Back above it the buyers who defended it four times are back in control, and the breakdown has failed. 0.6286% above entry, which puts 25.14% of collateral at risk at 40x. The worst of it landed a full day into the hold rather than at the start: 3.5783, 0.300% offside, a little under half the room left to the stop. Liquidation sits at 3.6532.

The Exit:

Take-profit rested at 3.51, the prior week’s low. BNBDOM fought over that price from both sides this year, rejected as a high in May and touched again as a low on 20 August. It filled at 07:31 UTC on Tuesday 25 August, 2d 6h after entry. 2.57R off the stop.

What It Paid:

40x sat behind a 0.6286% stop for the better part of two days. Move +1.61%. Net +64.5%. A stop-out would have cost 25.14% of collateral. 2.57R. Held 2d 6h.

Takeaway:

A price that has held six times before finally gives way once, and that break is worth being short of, not doubted.

5. Ethereum Dominance (ETHDOM) — Long, Closed

Entry: 11.3500 · Exit: 11.4500 · 30x · +26.4%

The Setup:

The smallest trade of the five. The limit long was left at 11.35 and filled at 12:07 UTC on Thursday 20 August. 11.35 has been in play both ways since January 2025: rejected once in February 2025, held as a low in December 2025, and held again on 20 August, the very dip the fill printed into.

Trade Management:

Stop-loss set at 11.26, which rejected ETHDOM five times between January 2025 and April 2026. Under it the long is back beneath a price with that history against it, and the support it was bought above is gone. 0.793% below entry, putting 23.79% of collateral at risk at 30x. This one was never seriously threatened: 0.230% offside at the worst, under a third of the distance to the stop. Liquidation sits at 10.9830.

The Exit:

Take-profit rested at 11.45: ETHDOM has traded in both directions there since January 2025, two highs and two lows through April 2026. It filled the same afternoon, at 15:51 UTC. 1.11R off the stop, the thinnest reward on the card: the nearest level above entry sat close enough that the target barely cleared its own risk. It filled anyway, at a price with a history on both sides of the tape.

What It Paid:

30x had 0.793% of room underneath it, enough to sit through without much drama. Move +0.88%. Net +26.4%. A stop-out would have cost 23.79% of collateral. 1.11R. Held 3h 44m.

Takeaway:

A 1.11R target is still worth taking when the level behind it has been contested for a year and a half, highs and lows alike. Size and reward are not the only things that make a trade sound.

Retrospective and illustrative only. Every trade shown here was selected after the fact, with full knowledge of how the week resolved. These are hypothetical results chosen in hindsight to illustrate the range of setups that dominance pairs produce in a single week. They are not a track record, not a representation of actual trading, and not a representation that any account did or would achieve these results.

Entries and exits are drawn from prices that printed during the stated window, but no fill is guaranteed to have been obtainable at any particular size, and the figures exclude trading fees, funding, slippage and price impact. Returns are expressed as a percentage of collateral at the stated leverage; leveraged positions carry a risk of total loss, and a position can be liquidated by an adverse move well short of the levels shown.
